Winemaker Who Loves to Blend
What a busy month it has been thus far – after the week-long bank holidays on late March people are quickly getting back into business mode! Especially for the wine industry, the April calendar is loaded with activities, above and beyond the South African Wines highlight and a couple trade focused tastings this week.
One of which took place yesterday at The China Club. Cuvees was there to profile Siduri, a Sonoma-based Pinot Noir house recently acquired by the Jackson Family Wines group in January 2015.
The most intriguing thing about Siduri is their Pinot style. Founder cum winemaker Adam Lee has always been a firm believer in blending in his approach to winemaking. We tasted the Siduri Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2012 also the 2013 vintage, which were put together with approximately 20 batches of finished wines to deliver a collated sense of terrior upon an appellation level. This also makes his wines unique amongst the other pinots. For Burgundy-style lovers, you may want to try their appellation entry-level pinot from the Siduri Santa Lucia Highlands collection. The 2012 vintage received favourable reviews from the likes of Robert Parker at Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator.
Press, wine critics reportedly mentioned Siduri Wines as one of California’s highly regarded wineries, for it produces top-flight Pinots at very reasonable price.
