History
The Grand Cru “Les Preusses” was named after the old French word "perreuse", which means "pierre" (stone), due to the antic Roman stone-road that was connecting the city of Chablis to the village of Maligny. The road does not exist since a long time, as now seats “Les Preuses” vineyard. Les Preuses is a Grand Cru climat of Chablis, located on the eastern bank of the Serein river above the town of Chablis.
Terroir
Overlooking the valley, Chablis Grand Cru “Les Preuses” is imposing with its 10.8 hectares. Plots are south and southwest facing. It is literally bathed in sunlight. During Summer, the vines take advantage of sun rays until late in the evening. On the top, soils are predominantly clay-limestone, brown in color. Underneath lies the hundreds of million years Kimmeridgian limestone soil containing an infinite number of marine fossils, the classical bed rock of Chablis greatest vineyards.
Tasting Notes
Shining dense gold colour with green highlights. Intense nose of ripe pear, lemon, straw, oyster! Les Preuses has a chalky minerality backbone making it a deep, pure, and expressive wine with an impressive length. The crystal-cut high minerality is balanced by a beautiful concentration and depth.
